Nice video.  What is the mod for that compass on the map?

Nice video, DTRAX. I always like seeing these missions from a different point of view.

You know, I'm surprised that both you and Rattle play the game in 3rd person. That never occurred to me, since I rarely use it, myself, and always just briefly. But then, I've never played 3rd person shooters, so 1st person just seems more natural to me, I guess.

One big advantage to playing in 3rd person, I see, is that you don't see a close-up of the medic's crotch when he's reviving you. It's not so bad when he's wearing pants, but... still not great.  :D

Playing 3rd person is a kinda cheat - especially if you want to play hardcore  ???

not really a cheat when it is part of the game.

doing it in hardcore makes it not "hardcore" i would think.

different strokes for different folkes

I wish we would get rid of all intel on the map - No enemy sightings at all!
Then 3rd person would be redundant "nest par?"

I agree with HRD, to get rid of the intel on the maps...  Maybe keep it for drones.
When I lead, I need to use the map to see where I should place units, and of course I cant avoid to see the enemies, so Im cheating even if I dont want to  :'(   .
Of course I cant just ignore what I see on the map. And I dont want to see it....

I don't really care, if it's a hardcore session, because I don't play hardcore, anyway. (I think I play enough Arma 3, especially with my recent back problems, without adding Friday nights to the mix!  :P )

However, note that there's quite a difference between real-life and sitting in front of a computer, peering into a screen. There are all sorts of clues outside when someone else is around. Our situational awareness is always better than when we're just looking into a computer screen.

Maybe if they develop a Holodeck - or whatever that's called on Star Trek - it will be different. But for now, I see 3rd person - and even the enemy showing up on maps - as just a partial solution to how artificial the whole experience is, anyway. This is, after all, just a game.

Of course, when it comes to games, different people have different preferences. No problem. But remember that a game isn't going to be realistic, no matter what you do. (Not unless you're talking about a remote UAV operator, sitting at a desk far from the battlefield, perhaps.)
